Beginners’ Fear

“I am interested in wushu, but I am scared as I have no prior knowledge.”
This is a common misconception and fear beginners tend to have before taking their step forward in wushu learning.
De Wu instructors will be teaching beginners on the basic knowledge and movements, as part of the training of one’s stamina and foundation. Therefore, anyone who is interested can take up wushu, regardless of experience and knowledge, age or occupation.

De Wu Syllabus

What You Can Learn

The training syllabus of the association consists of Traditional wushu forms, mainly Shaolin forms, Nothern and Southern wushu forms, and Competition Style wushu forms, including Long Fist( 长拳 chang quan) and Southern Boxing ( 南拳 nan quan) which are part of the international competitive routine styles.

For a beginner with white belt, the basic learning of wushu: physical, mental training and cultural understanding, is crucial. There will be elementary trainings on body movements and co-ordination like stances, kicks and punches, while improvements on one strength and stamina through simple wushu routines.
Once the basic foundation has been properly laid, students can continue to learn more challenging forms of wushu with the use of weapons, mainly broadsword(dao), straight sword ( jian), Cudgel or Staff (gun) and Spear( qiang).
Of course, there will be more varieties for empty-handed wushu routines as well as different weapons routines as the standard advances.
Grading & Advancement
